National

Philanthropy:

Last year's national philanthropy is the Make-A-Wish Foundation!

Make-A-Wish grants the wish of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition in the United States and its territories, on average, every 38 minutes. We believe that a wish experience can be a game-changer. This one belief guides us. It inspires us to help this incredible foundation grant wishes that change the lives of the kids they serve.

On April 6th, 2014, we held the 1st Annual Color Me Kappa Paint Run! We had an amazing turn out & hope to make this an annual event to support our national philanthropy.

2014-2015 National Philanthropy -

CHECK BACK IN NOVEMBER TO SEE WHO WE VOTE FOR OUR NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY FOR 2014-2015

Each year, Kappa Delta Phi NAS has a different philanthropy. Each chapter discusses what philanthropy they would like to nominate to become the National Philanthropy for that year.

Then, in November, the Presidents, Vice Presidents, and Treasurers from each chapter meet and present the philanthropy their chapter nominated. The chapter Presidents, Vice Presidents, and Treasurers all vote to choose the National Philanthropy.

Our chapter is also involved in many philanthropies outside our National Philathropy.

These philanthropies have become traditions in our chapter. We also welcome any other Greek organizations on our campus and other Kappa Delta Phi NAS chapters to participate or collaborate in our philanthropies.

Philanthropy

Manna Ministries

Each Friday, our chapter helps Manna Ministries, of Bangor, Maine, serve dinner to those who have fallen on hard financial times & people who need a safe place to stay. Manna Ministries provides an amazing service in our community by helping those get back on their feet. We are so lucky to have such a close relationship with such a wonderful organization with such loving people.

Out of the Darkness Walk:

The Out of the Darkness Community Walks are 3-5 mile walks which take place in over 200 communities across the country, with the proceeds benefiting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).

UMaine Counseling Center coordinates the Out of the Darkness Community Walk each fall. This year’s walk took place on Saturday, September 29, 2013.

Not only did we raise $200 for this important foundation, we helped raise awareness by participating in the walk with our Kappa Delta Phi brothers and our sisters from the Husson University (Kappa Lambda) chapter.
